Is there any hope for anyone of us to start living in the present. I mean politically, pop culture wise too. I mean you have republicans wanting to live in the past and try to revive Regan's corpse for shit's sake. Then you have music culture, look at Lady Gaga, do I sense a little bit of Madonna in her. Just a little bit. Original thought has gone out the window, this society has gone to one mass, and lost it's individuality. I'm curious to look back at our kids will think of our generation. There isn't a music movement and culture that is making this decade memorable, it's bland. I'm still hell bent on a punk revival in the next five years, especially with bands like Rise Against rising up.
I see it all over the map, kids thinking that the 80's were a good time. The music was sometimes good, but it was shit for the most part. The fashions sucked, hair was even worse, and of course we had Regan. One of the worst political times in the country. Why do bands try to find something that is dead? It's like beating a dead horse (no Guns N' Roses reference). So why try? If a band wants to do something that is retro, inject some life into it. Mix in the flavor of what is going on today, same for politics. I don't want to hear about something that was relevant about 25 years ago.
Now this is non sequitur about what I actually wanted to talk about tonight. I just don't think it is appropriate to talk about what is really on my mind. It is better off left unsaid for now.
